For three months Hometown community teams across Australia have been busy exercising and keeping a tally of the number of steps they take each day. The steps were then converted into kms to see which community got the most steps. and if all the communities combined had enough steps to walk around the circumference of the earth, 40, 075 kms!

Edgewalkers from Edgewater, QLD walked 22,540,300 steps
2nd place
Sunrise Strutters from Hunter, NSW who walked 21,216,964 steps
3rd place
Grevillea Gallopers from NSW North Coast walked 16,637,796 steps
*A third place award was introduced this year in recognition of the massive increase in interest in this event.
Silver Grey Rockstars from Rosetta
Community groups embraced this competition with people walking, doing aqua aerobics and even rock n roll classes to build up steps.
The Hometown communities completed a whopping total of 91,466 kms (120,003,007 steps) – more than twice as many kms as the circumference of the earth (40, 075 kms)!
