A Little Chat Goes a Long Way at R U OK? Day 2025

A sea of yellow was seen across Hometown Austraia’s communities on Thursday, 11 September 2025 in support of the annual R U OK? Day initiative. R U OK? Day is an important initiative that residents across the communities have taken part in for the past four years, where they create a safe space within the community to ask the important question, R U OK? Let’s take a look at how residents supported the initiative across the communities this year.

R U OK? Day with a Twist at Nepean Shores!

This year, residents at the Nepean Shores community in NSW did something with a twist! Instead of the traditional yellow theme, the community hosted a Gatsby themed evening to support the R U OK? Day initiative. “The evening was a beautiful mix of connection, catching up, and checking in with each other. There was live entertainment, lots of belly laughter and delicious food complete with 20s inspired desserts. Residents are saying the event was the best yet!” said Tina Andreanis, Community Manager at Nepean Shores.

A Sausage Sizzle with a Smile at Red Gum

Residents at the Red Gum community in Queensland did not disappoint, dressing up for the annual R U OK? Day BBQ event in fun yellow costumes. Management enjoyed hosting a sausage sizzle for residents to enjoy and share in a moment of connection to ask the important question, R U OK? “We had a great turn out this year with residents popping by for a sausage sizzle and staying for good conversation and some laughs!” said Renee Bettles, Community Manager at Red Gum.

Checking-in (Any Day!) at Rosetta

For this year’s R U OK? Day event, Management at the Rosetta community in South Australia hosted a sausage sizzle followed by a few sweet treats for residents. “It was lovely to see so many of our wonderful residents attend, dressed in theme with a hint of yellow and enjoy the chitter chatter amongst themselves,” said Lisa Fyfe, Community Manager. This year the team’s main message was to check in on your neighbours – any day – with one resident demonstrating how to as R U OK? in Auslan.
