For Buffy and David, moving to Teraglin Lakeshore was about finding a home that suited the next stage of their lives. What they discovered was much more than a low-maintenance home. They found a welcoming community, an enviable Central Coast lifestyle and a place they genuinely love to call home.
Downsizing from a large two-storey home made sense for the couple. With just the two of them at home, they wanted something more manageable and were attracted to the opportunity to live more comfortably without the burden of a mortgage.
They also knew what they didn't want. "We didn't look into retirement villages because we just wanted to feel like we were in a suburb," Buffy explains.
Teraglin Lakeshore offered exactly the balance they were looking for. From the moment they discovered the community, they could picture themselves building a life there.
That life has turned out to be every bit as enjoyable as they hoped. Buffy describes the lifestyle as "absolutely brilliant", with fishing, boating, the wharf and a park all close at hand. The location provides easy access to beaches, lakes and bushwalks, creating plenty of opportunities to enjoy the outdoors.
For David, living by the water means making the most of the lake during the warmer months. "I do take the kayaks out in the summer when it's warmer. It's quite pleasant to go for a paddle up and down the lake," he says.
Teraglin Lakeshore was about finding a home that suited the next stage of Buffy and David's lives.
Buffy has her own favourite way to enjoy the community lifestyle. "Here at Teraglin, the pool is the best. I love to swim, and in summer, from about September through to sometimes April, I just swim all day," she says.
Just as important as the lifestyle has been the sense of connection they have found. Friends and family who have visited Teraglin Lakeshore have been so impressed by the community that several have chosen to move there themselves. Buffy now has family members living nearby, creating a unique sense of closeness and support.
With the community's new clubhouse creating even more opportunities to socialise and connect with neighbours, Buffy and David are excited about what the future holds.
For Buffy, the feeling she has about their decision is simple. "Every morning I wake up and I'm just thankful. We love Teraglin."
For Buffy and David, Teraglin Lakeshore has become much more than a place to live. It is a community, a lifestyle and a place they are proud to call home.
