The Perfect Lifestyle at The Pines

There are many reasons why over 50s are downsizing or retiring to the Coffs Harbour region. For The Pines resident, Robyn, it was the close proximity to the beach, variety of things to do in the region, and affordable homes that drew her to the costal town, Woolgoolga in the Coffs Harbour region.

Set alongside Hearnes Lake, is The Pines offering a quintessential retreat for over 50s who are looking for a relaxed lifestyle in one of Australia’s best locations. “As a mature, single baby boomer, my priority in relocating was to find an affordable, safe, and friendly community and that is what land lease communities offer. I love living at The Pines,” said Robyn.

Living an Engaged Life

“As a new resident, I would describe The Pines’ sense of community as definitely being a strong, supportive, and friendly environment. New residents are made to feel welcome, and all events and functions are open to everyone,” said Robyn.

The Pines is filled with great amenities to support residents in leading a physically and socially active lifestyle. Start your day with a dip in the pool or if you’re looking for company to help unwind there is the happy hour in the community clubhouse. With an activity or event always taking place, making new friends in the community is easy. “I have personally enjoyed the trivia afternoons, craft sessions, chair yoga, and social morning teas that have been affectionately called Puddin’ Club. When you attend events regularly, you get to build trust and rapport with other residents, week by week. I am yet to meet everyone living here, some residents come to everything, other residents might not. The choice is always up to the individual resident,” said Robyn.

An Unbeatable Climate and Thriving Culture

Coffs Harbour is known for having one of the most liveable climates in the world making it that little bit easier to live an active and engaged lifestyle. Spend your days exploring the natural surrounds with fishing at Bongil Bongil National Park, your choice of visiting many of the pristine beaches, or taking in the view of the coastline across one of the 75 walking trails within the region.

“I am an avid whale watcher, and the Woolgoolga Headland gives you a brilliant 270-degree view of the horizon. Whales pass through Woolgoolga and the Coffs Coast between May and November every year. You can walk from Woolgoolga Beach up to the Headland or drive up and there is ample parking. On January 1 at 5am, there would have been 100 people waiting for the New Years Day sunrise. It was a very special experience and a spectacular sunrise,” said Robyn.

Coffs Harbour has a thriving local community with cafes, restaurants, fresh local seafood, and an abundance of nature to explore. “I love the friendliness of the locals, and the variety of things that are available to do in the area. The Coffs Harbour area has a great theatre, three cinemas, a beautiful harbour and beaches, sporting complexes, a great shopping centre, weekly markets, whale watching, and fishing,” said Robyn.

Location

Woolgoolga is located halfway between Brisbane and Sydney and is a short 20-minute drive to Coffs Harbour. The location provides the best of both worlds with access to beautiful beaches and harnessing a relaxed lifestyle but also with access to modern day conveniences and everyday needs. “I love whale watching, the beach, sunshine, small communities, and being only a drive away from my family in Sydney. I can be in the Gold Coast in three hours, Brisbane in four hours, and Sydney in six hours,” said Robyn.
