The Sunrise Port Stephens Men’s Shed was officially opened on Wednesday 2 September with the cutting of the ribbon at the front entrance of this purpose-built facility by Hometown’s Development Manager Geoff Dearden and Asset Manager Glenn Page. The event was well attended with a crowd of over 60 residents and guests gathering within the brand new 200sqm plus building.
Following the official proceedings Michael Elliott, also from Hometown’s Property Team, together with a couple of members from the newly formed Men’s Shed Steering Committee cooked up a sausage sizzle storm on a sensational sunny Port Stephens day.
A highlight of the event was a visit by six members of the Valhalla Men’s Shed in Chain Valley Bay who have provided invaluable support to the Steering Committee in getting them started. The team from Valhalla also presented the Sunrise Shed with their first donations, a circular saw, a blower, and an extension lead, all tested and tagged.
MJH Multi is also making a contribution that will enable the members to purchase equipment and materials to get them started. The Sunrise Port Stephens Men’s Shed is off to a sensational start, we’re all very excited!
