Mo’ments to Remember from Movember 2021

Residents across our communities enjoyed a BBQ which created a space to engage in important conversations, with some residents showing their support by growing their best mo! Through the very generous donations of our residents, Hometown Australia raised just over $2,000 and it keeps climbing!.

One of the many communities in support of Movember was the Beachfront Lifestyle Community on the mid-north coast of NSW. Residents held their own ‘Movember Happy Hour Fundraiser’ in support of men’s mental health, suicide prevention, prostate cancer, and testicular cancer. Residents enjoyed a BBQ cooked up by the Social Club, tried their luck at the meat raffle, and awarded the winner of the ‘grow you best mo’ in support of the movement. The event ended with a trivia night, hosted by the communities very own Quiz Master and an auction of artwork kindly donated by one of the communities very talented artists.

“Our goal was to raise $300 however, residents exceeded all expectations and raised a phenomenal $820 in a fantastic evening! We are so very proud of the residents and their efforts in fundraising for Movember. The resilience residents have shown over the past 18 months during these challenging times is incredible. The community spirit is alive and well at Beachfront!” said Melissa and Jess Thornley, Community Managers at the Beachfront Lifestyle Community.

The residents at the Pines Community not only enjoyed their BBQ event but also showed off their very impressive mo’s in support of Movember. Community Manager, Justin Holman said although the weather didn’t play in their favour, they still had a great turn out to their community Movember Aussie BBQ and kicked on for over two hours enjoying games of pool and darts.

“It was great to have a chat to all the residents who came down to support and to really listen when asking them if they’re doing ok. It has been a tough 12 months for people to feel connected, it’s so important to have those conversations and really listen,” said Justin.

The Hometown Australia team also joined in on supporting Movember with Joint Managing Directors, Stuart Strong and Kevin Tucker, along with Hometown Australia employees showing their support and creating awareness by growing their best mo and donating to the cause.

“Conversations around mental health have never been more important, Movember helps to remove the stigma and allows space for mental health to be openly discussed,” said Stuart Strong.

“Our motivation to grow our best mo this Movember is to dedicate time to a worthy cause, encourage conversations, and show our support to the team who have done such a great job getting through tough times in 2021,” said Kevin Tucker.
